White Resin Ganesh Statue 14 cm
Ganesh, also known as Ganesha or Ganapati, is one of the most revered deities in the Hindu pantheon. He is depicted with an elephant head and a human body.
The legend behind this unique appearance dates back to the creation of Ganesh by the goddess Parvati, mother of all the gods. Parvati created Ganesh from the earth itself and then infused him with life. One day, while Parvati was taking a bath, she asked Ganesh to stand guard at the door. When Shiva, Parvati's husband, attempted to enter, Ganesh did not let him pass. Furious, Shiva severed Ganesh's head. Deeply saddened, Parvati asked Shiva to bring her son back to life. Shiva then ordered his servants to find the first sleeping creature and cut off its head to bring Ganesh back to life. They found a sleeping elephant, and thus Ganesh regained an elephant head.
Each element of Ganesh's appearance has a particular significance:
- His large trunk, called "Gaja Mukha," is a symbol of his mastery of speech and wisdom.
- His large belly symbolizes the ability to absorb all experiences of life, good or bad.
- His two tusks, called "Ankusa" and "Pasha," represent control over passions and the capture of ignorance.
- In one of his hands, Ganesh holds a modaka (a sweet), representing the fruit of meditation and wisdom.
- With the other hand, he performs the gesture of reassurance.
Ganesh transcends cultural boundaries and has become a universal symbol of wisdom and protection.
"May Ganesh's wisdom light your path, may his trunk remove obstacles, and may his presence bring peace to your heart."
