The ZAFU is a traditional, round, and firm floor cushion, an essential item for many meditators. It's ideal for providing them with a stable and comfortable posture, crucial for effective and prolonged meditation.
Placed under the meditator's buttocks to elevate the hips and promote a more ergonomic position, it helps maintain a straight spine and a comfortable leg position (lotus or half-lotus). Its height ensures that the hips are positioned above the knees, allowing the pelvis to find the correct position by tilting slightly forward. This alignment facilitates deeper and more relaxed breathing.
This cotton ZAFU is filled with rice straw and kapok (a light, fluffy plant fiber widely available in Southeast Asia).
